SESSION 1 and INAUGURAL CONFERENCE on"Enhancing participation of Women and Youth entrepreneurs in the AfCFTA :Harnessing COMESA, EAC, SADC, FTA for inclusive growth". At the end of the Conference, the panelists were convinced that to truly unlock the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area(AfCFTA) for inclusive growth, a concerted effort must focus on significantly enhancing the participation of women and youth entrepreneurs.
That this can be dynamically achieved by strategically harnessing the existing frameworks and successes ofRegional economic communities like COMESA, EAC, SADC, leveraging their established Free Trade Areas (FTAs) to streamline market access, provide targeted capacity building and financial support, and foster policy environments that specifically address the unique challenges faced by these vital demographic groups, ultimately ensuring their meaningful contribution to and benefit from the AfCFTA vast opportunities.
