COMFWB convenes successful General Assembly in Addis Ababa - Ethiopia

The COMESA Federation of Women in Business successfully convened its General Assembly for this year on May 6th, 2025, at Ethiopian Skylight Hotel. This significant gathering brought together key stakeholders, including Chapter Chairpersons and representatives from COMFWB's 21 member countries, alongside dedicated members of staff.

The high-level nature of the General Assembly was underscored by the esteemed presence of HE. Ms Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe, the Secretary General of COMESA Dev Hamman, the Assistant Secretary General, Ms Maureen Sumbwe, the COMFWB Board Chairperson, and Mrs Beatrice Hamusonde, the Director of Gender and Social Affairs at COMESA, Mr Miti Chikakula, the CEO of COMFWB

The occasion served as a vital platform for reviewing the progress made in the implementation of the 2025 work plan and budget, and for providing crucial updates on the upcoming Trade Fair and Business Conference, including the introduction of new guiding principles for this key event.

As the supreme policy organ of the Federation, composed of Heads or Deputy Heads of member states, the General Assembly plays a pivotal role in setting the overall policy and strategic direction for COMFWB. Its responsibilities are central to achieving the Federation's aims and objectives, ensuring impactful progress in empowering women in business across the COMESA Region
