Great news from Nairobi, Kenya! The leadership of the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) recently met with Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Trade, Mrs. Regina Ombam, to discuss the upcoming 7th COMFWB Trade Fair and Business Conference (CBCTF 7). The meeting included Ms. Miti Chikakula, CEO of COMFWB, and Ms. Vicky Karuga, President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Kenya (FOWEK) and COMFWB Kenya Chairperson.
The discussion centered on the CBCTF 7, which is scheduled for August of next year in Nairobi. This annual event is a key initiative by COMFWB to showcase products and services from women entrepreneurs across the COMESA region. It helps them grow their businesses, secure financing, and expand into new markets. The leaders also explored other areas for collaboration and shared interests to further support and empower women in business leading up to the trade fair.
Since 2020, COMFWB has been organizing these regional trade fairs with its various chapters to facilitate market access for women-led businesses. These events have been transformative in enhancing connectivity with international markets and promoting exports. Trade fairs provide crucial access to potential customers and partners, helping to establish brand awareness among key decision-makers. This significantly contributes to increased sales and opens doors to new markets. The main goal of the COMFWB Trade Fair, Business Conference, and Gala Dinner is to create a strong platform for collaboration and partnerships among businesses from local and COMESA member countries
The event is instrumental in fostering economic growth, stimulating trade, and attracting direct investment within the COMESA community. It serves as a powerful platform for businesses to showcase innovative products and services, highlighting the region's vast potential. Additionally, it offers invaluable opportunities for knowledge and experience sharing among women in business, sparking discussions on the challenges and opportunities in regional trade, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises. Following events in Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Egypt, Madagascar, and Ethiopia, Kenya will host this important regional economic and commercial event.
