COMFWB Seychelles Chapter is allocated a dedicated helpline by AIRTEL

On Tuesday 8 March 2022, coinciding with International Women’s Day, COMFWB Seychelles Chapter made a great step towards facilitating communications with its members and potential members. At a small ceremony hosted at AIRTEL premises at Perseverance on Mahe, the Chief Executive of AIRTEL Mr Amadou Dina Mahamat, who is from the African continent, presented COMFWB Seychelles Chapter Chair, Mrs Claudette Albert with a dedicated helpline number which will be used primarily for business enquiries and as part of advisory services.

Mrs Claudette Albert and COMFWB Seychelles Chapter’s Secretary Ms Laurie-mae Lepathy-Ansah were in attendance at the small ceremony alongside a young lady entrepreneur Rima Dufresne, who took the opportunity to present a cosmetic product she wants to launch and Mrs Therese Niole, woman specialist in handicraft and equally a member of the Seychelles Chapter. The Chief Executive Officer of the Citizens Engagement Platform (CEPS), Mr Alvin Laurence was also present.

Ms Dufresne’s intervention, being a new mentee of COMFWB Seychelles, forms part of efforts being made to train and prepare the next generation of women and youth leaders and entrepreneurs. A concept which will be brought to life through core projects like the Business Incubator for African Women Entrepreneurs in the near future.

In his speech the AIRTEL CEO mentioned how pleased he was for his company to be supporting COMFWB Seychelles Chapter in their ventures as the latter’s objectives are closely aligned with the Telecom company’s ones, specifically in the Education and Capacity building areas. He expressed willingness for AIRTEL to continue collaborating with COMFWB Seychelles Chapter to bring their initiatives and projects to life.

On her part Mrs Claudette Albert thanked AIRTEL for agreeing to support COMFWB Seychelles Chapter, stating that, with its pool of members slowly building up, a dedicated helpline will go a long way to smoothing two-way communications and bringing women closer to their goals to create, manage and expand their business locally and regionally. One specific project where the number will come to great use is a data collection exercise, which the Chapter is soon to carry out in the wider community, with the ultimate goal of opening a potential credit line via a woman’s bank for the Seychelles women and youth business prospects. COMFWB Seychelles Chapter’s new helpline number is 2828297

All COMFWB women entrepreneurs in attendance at the event were presented with floral bouquets to mark International Women’s day.
