COMFWB successfully launched COYWA Program due diligence in Seychelles

Victoria, Seychelles – The COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Secretariat is proud to announce the successful conclusion of a two-day strategic due diligence mission in Seychelles, marking the official launch of the COMESA Youth and Women in Agribusiness (COYWA) Program.

Led by COMFWB CEO, Ms. Miti Chikakula, and COMFWB Seychelles Chapter Chairperson, Madam Claudette Alberte, the mission was crucial for assessing local context and readiness to maximize the program’s impact on young women entrepreneurs in the agribusiness sector.

Key Outcomes from the two-day mission:

------------------------------------------

The mission involved high-level engagements and crucial site assessments to ensure a robust foundation for the program:

1- Ministerial Support : A successful courtesy call was made on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, securing key government endorsement and strategic alignment for the COYWA initiatives.

2- Infrastructure Development : The team conducted a critical site visit to the prime land allocated by the government for the construction of the future COYWA Incubation Centre. This centre will serve as the physical hub for training, mentorship, and business support.

3-Stakeholder Consultation : Productive consultative meetings were held with the CEO of the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB), the leadership of the Youth Department and the National Youth Council, and the Principal Secretary for Industry and Enterprise. These discussions were pivotal in tailoring the program’s structure to the specific needs and opportunities within the Seychelles market.

“Our goal is not just to launch a project, but to build a sustainable ecosystem where young Seychellois women can thrive economically through agribusiness,” stated Ms. Chikakula. “The commitment shown by our partners in Seychelles confirms that the COYWA Program is set up for true success.”

The COMFWB Secretariat remains dedicated to keeping stakeholders informed and will be providing further updates on the project’s implementation timeline in the coming weeks.
