COMFWB Zambia Chairperson calls on women entrepreneurs to combat early marriage and drive empowerment

In response to the alarming prevalence of early marriage across Africa, where approximately 400 million girls are forced into child marriage and 250 million are denied education due to financial constraints, women in business are being urgently called upon to leverage their influence and expertise to drive meaningful change. This pressing appeal emphasized the critical role women entrepreneurs can play in confronting these pervasive global challenges.
The Zambia Federation of Associations of Women in Business -ZFAWIB, the COMFWB Zambia recently highlighted this imperative at the graduation of 83 women from the "Women Creating Wealth" program, a joint initiative with the Graça Machel Trust - GMT. This program aims to uplift the economic and social standing of women and adolescent girls at national, regional, and continental levels.
Siphira Chisha combat early marriage and improve the lives of young girls globally. The overarching goal is to foster positive change by equipping women with leadership and financial literacy, enabling them to become ethical leaders who can help other women, especially the young, achieve a better life.
As Zambia embarks on a journey of change with robust policies prioritizing women's empowerment, ZFAWIB's CEO, Maureen Sumbwe further urged women entrepreneurs to forge strategic alliances and capitalize on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement
