Mauritius Launches COMFWB Chapter at the FCEM International Conference

History was made as the COMFWB Mauritius Chapter was officially launched on 26th May 2022 at the FCEM International Conference in Mauritius. The Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM) hosted the third FCEM International Conference at the Mauritius L’Imperial Resort & Spa, in Flic-en-Flac. The three-day conference which brought together 200 women business owners from Mauritius and across the world was launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth on 26th May 2022. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Minister of Industrial Development, SMEs and Cooperatives, Mr. Soomilduth Bholah, and the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs. Kalpana Devi Koonjoo-Shah. The FCEM President, Marie-Christine Oghly, the AMFCE Chairperson Rina Ramsaran, the COMFWB CEO Ruth Negash, and the COMFWB Board Chairperson Maureen Sumbwe were also in attendance.

The three-day event kicked off with a closed steering committee meeting for the FCEM Board on 25th May 2022. The second day was the launching of the International FCEM Conference in the presence of the Prime Minister of the country. On the same day, the AMFCE also launched its nomination as the COMESA Federation of Women in Business -Mauritius Chapter.  AMFCE seized the opportunity to sign a memorandum of understanding between FCEM, COMFWB, and AMFCE, in order to increase the visibility of Africa and enhance trade opportunities between Africa and the world.  The launch was followed by the international conference around the theme: Circular Economy: Women Entrepreneurs as the Driving Force of Change. The last day was allocated to the Digital Marketplace, focusing on the B2B exchanges and trade opportunities between the local and international delegates.

The AMFCE, which stands for Association Mauricienne des Femmes Chefs d’Enterprises, was founded in May 1986 and brings together women business owners from all sectors of the Mauritian economy.  The AMFCE (Association Mauricienne Des Femmes chefs D’Entreprises) is affiliated with FCEM (Les Femmes Chefs D’Entreprises Mondiales), a world organisation which regroups more than 100 000 women in business around the five continents. FCEM is the united world voice for women in business and its motto is “Alone we are invisible, together we are a force”.
