Through the BIAWE project, SEDCO is seeking to build the capacity of women entrepreneurs in chicken meat production, processing and marketing in the Shiselweni region. SEDCO is implementing the project in close collaboration with COMFWB who are the project managers for the project. The goal is to enable women in SMEs to come together in clusters, holistically minimize their costs and ultimately increasing value added goods and services in the local, regional and international markets.

Project Objectives

Enrol at least 60 women chicken farmers in the Shiselweni region in a 9 months incubation course to economically produce chickens for meat purposes.

Establish and operate a mini chicken abattoir and processing plant with the aim of providing onsite training to women farmers in chicken meat processing.

Establish market linkages to ensure that all farmers’ produce is sold at a profit on sustainable basis.

Establish finance linkages for women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

Develop high quality value-added chicken products for specific niche markets that will fetch premium prices in the market.
