COMFWB strengthens Cross-Border traders through FIRST Project training at Kasumbalesa Border

The COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB), in collaboration with the FIRST Project and supported by Global Affairs Canada, recently conducted a five-day capacity-building program at the Kasumbalesa Border to empower 80 small-scale cross-border traders, primarily women, youth, and persons with disabilities. This initiative provided essential training in business development, financial literacy, and social commerce, aiming to help participants transition business ideas into viable plans while mastering digital financial tools to reduce risks. By focusing on this critical economic corridor between Zambia and the DRC, the program seeks to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the marginalized groups who drive the majority of regional trade, ensuring they are better equipped to navigate complex cross-border processes and secure their livelihoods.
