Under the leadership of Dr. Siham, Chairperson of COMFWB Chapter Sudan, the online Business Development training kicked off vibrantly this February 15, 2026. All participants engaged with energy, diving deep into interactive case studies and sharing invaluable experiences surrounding essential entrepreneurial concept.By the end of this comprehensive workshop, these women business leaders will possess the validated skills to project cash flows, determine breakeven points, and craft actionable plans to successfully launch or scale their venture. Attending this workshop empowers entrepreneurs with the essential tools to transform a business vision into a scalable reality. The COMFWB team was recently in Zimbabwe to advance this critical initiative focused on empowering women and youth through economic development. The mission included a crucial visit to the Leather Incubation Centre, a brilliant hub where entrepreneurship and skills are being forged in the leather industry.

The COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB), in collaboration with the FIRST Project and supported by Global Affairs Canada, recently conducted a five-day capacity-building program at the Kasumbalesa Border to empower 80 small-scale cross-border traders, primarily women, youth, and persons with disabilities. This initiative provided essential training in business development, financial literacy, and social commerce, aiming to help participants transition business ideas into viable plans while mastering digital financial tools to reduce risks. By focusing on this critical economic corridor between Zambia and the DRC, the program seeks to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the marginalized groups who drive the majority of regional trade, ensuring they are better equipped to navigate complex cross-border processes and secure their livelihoods.

On February 3, 2026, COMFWB Zimbabwe successfully launched a high-level collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and key Border Agencies to implement the COMFWB-AGRA Trade Facilitation and NTB Reduction Programme. The initiative aims to modernize operations at the Chirundu and Victoria Falls borders by dismantling non-tariff barriers and streamlining logistics. This strategic partnership is specifically designed to empower women traders, youth, and SMEs, providing them with the institutional support needed to access regional markets and achieve sustainable financial independence.

COMFWB Malawi Chapter extends its heartfelt congratulations to our National Chairperson, Madam Selina Mwenelupembe, on her appointment as a Commissioner of the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC). She officially took the oath of office on 29th January 2026.
